WHY?

I want to know why...

Why is it that when you give birth to a healthy baby in a hospital, the baby is immediately TAKEN from the mother's care and "tended" to? If there are no signs of distress or medical emergency, why does that baby need to fly through the room in someone else's hands, not usually very gently, to be put on a bright, cold table, poked at and vigorously wiped off? Does the Mother really care if she gets some blood or vernix residue on her hands? YES, I know that they suggest you put the eye cream in for chlamydia... Even if Mom is negative? But if you decide to have that for your baby, you have several hours to do that for the desired results.

Why does the baby need a bath right away? Did you know that the white substance called "vernix" is actually great for the baby's skin? I decided that someone I didn't know wasn't going to give my baby her first bath, I wanted that honor.

Why does that baby ever need to leave my side? I was told that my baby had to be taken to the nursery to be checked out by the pediatrician. Ummm... No.. The Pediatrician can come to MY room. If they want me to continue bringing my baby to their office as a new patient, they can walk 20 feet down the hall and come to my room. And, so that's what happened.

By biggest "why" is why women let this happen day after day.

Well, finally after 9 and 1/2 months I feel a tooth coming through. And it's a sharp one too. You can't really see it yet but I can definetly feel it with my finger.

Viacord

The best decision I made for my daughter was choosing Viacord to Bank her umbilical cord blood. My husband and I wanted "peace of mind" knowing that if she would ever get sick or have the need for it, then we would be thankful that we took the steps needed to help save her life.
Also, there is so much research being done on stem cells, we wanted to make sure she would be able to take advantage of any of those benefits should the need arise.
Viacord's customer sevice agents were IMPECCABLE and answered all of my questions...
